An Inside View of Our Summer Internship Program – Part 1

We are happy to announce that we have successfully completed our first Summer internship program.

We have learned a lot from our interns, had great fun while doing it and we are sure they did too. Some of them accepted our challenge and decided to stay with us and become part of the Walltopia family.

Below are our some of our interns’ memories and experiences in their own words.

Petra, Architect and Design Intern

I am currently doing a degree in civil engineering and in my free time I love to lead an active life and  to  travel    🙂

Why did you apply for Walltopia’s summer internship program?

The opportunity to use my professional skills while doing something new. Because it’s interesting!

Tell us more about the department you are in?

I am in the Funwalls department, where the mood is cheerful, the people are positive, helpful and great at what they do! We create happiness!

Describe working at Walltopia in one word only:

Development.

Tell us about a cool/fun story you had with our team?

EVERY moment spent here is great.

What was your first impression of climbing?

For me climbing is one developing, rewarding and satisfying sport! I like it so much that I begin to miss it if I have skipped going to the gym for several days.

Your advice to our 2018 interns?

Desire everything, try everything. 🙂

 


 

Ngo Cuong (Kani), Accounting Intern

I’m a mathematician who loves challenges and never stops developing. I love sports, mountaineering and having fun. I don’t think that people’s fate is predetermined, rather  I believe that everything has a scientific and logical explanation.

Why did you apply for Walltopia’s summer internship program?

Walltopia is the best company in Bulgaria and Ivaylo Penchev is God.

Tell us more about the department you are in?

I‘m in the accounting department. My work here is dynamic and satisfying. Everyone is communicative, fun and a little bit crazy. There is always lots of food and drinks!

Excellent 😉

Tell us about a cool/fun story you had with our team:

One of the coolest moments was the day we celebrated Geri’s birthday (that’s one of our colleagues). There was a surprise prepared for her and generally it was really nice. The thing that impressed me most was the awesome biscuit cake that Geri had prepared and brought to work!

 


 

Stefana Kuzmova – Fany, Marketing intern

 I am very passionate about nature and ski/snowboard/surf. I am calm and emotionally intelligent. My        goal is to become an architect and to teach (or work in the educational system in Bulgaria).

Why did you apply for Walltopia’s summer internship program?

I was attracted by the opportunity to dive into the deep waters of a successful business and to put myself in an office environment for the first time. Also I wanted to meet and work with cool and proactive people.

Tell us more about the department you are in?

The work in the Marketing Department is varied and very dynamic. All my colleagues are very communicative, helpful and fun. I have learned a lot about Walltopia’s spirit and ideology while performing my tasks.

Describe working at Walltopia in one word only:

Fascinating

Tell us about a cool/fun story you had with our team?

We have a very cool rooftop terrace with a pool and it’s really nice to spend lunch there. By the way, it was also very nice to see the Walltopia factory in Bozhurishte.

What was your first impression of climbing?

For me climbing is one of the most exciting sports – it teaches patience and develops both one’s strength and mind. Since the first week of the internship I’ve been climbing almost everyday after work.

Your advice to our 2018 interns?

Ask questions and don’t be afraid to express your ideas 🙂

 


 

Kalina Mihaylova,Research and Development intern

I am studying Mechanical Engineering in the UK. My dream is to impact the world by using technology to make education accessible and desirable to people all over the world. I am passionate about civil aircraft design and I believe in dreaming big.

Why did you apply for Walltopia’s summer internship program?

I was persuaded by the spirit of the company. I want to work and learn in an surrounded by smart, motivated people and I was convinced that I would find this here.

Tell us more about the department you are in?

I am in the R&D department. This is where the products and ideas are developed, designed and tested before becoming part of Walltopia’s portfolio. I am surrounded by smart, positive people and I learn a lot every day.

Describe working at Walltopia in one word only:

Stimulating.

Tell us about a cool/fun story you had with our team?

Big D’s daily visits to the interns to give the physics student love-life advice.

What is your first impression of climbing?

Challenging, but fun. Definitely doing it again.

Your advice to our 2018 interns?

Keep in mind that being proactive makes it easier to learn.

 


 

Mariela Mangarova, Architect Intern

I am studying architecture at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia; when I applied for the internship program, I was just finishing my second year there. I like to   spend my free time hanging out with my friends, playing tennis and drawing.

 

Why did you apply for Walltopia’s summer internship program?

I was attracted by the diversity of projects the company is working on. I applied because I wanted to try something new, to improve my skills in 3D modelling and to gain experience that could later on be helpful at university.

Tell us more about the department you are in?

I am part of the Architecture and Design department. It’s never boring in here, because each day presents new projects, each different from each other. The things I learn here are unique – I am responsible for researching the culture and architecture of the countries where our future projects shall be realized; I also study drawings, which I must later on recreate as 3D models and I become acquainted with the process of executing a project.

Describe working at Walltopia in one word only:

Diversity.

Tell us about a cool/fun story you had ’till now with our team?

A client had sent a video presenting an already completed project, which showed people using the facilities and having real fun. He had also sent a ‘thank-you’ letter to the team who had been working on the project. My colleagues and I gathered to watch the whole video and to hear what the letter says.

What is your first impression of climbing?

Despite my fear of heights, it is truly a pleasure for me to climb because the fulfillment from reaching the top of a route is great.

Your advice to our 2018 interns?

Don’t be afraid to ask, try as many new things as possible, because the experience gained at this company can be applied everywhere.
